"Dear friends and colleagues,
This is an overdue, but very sincere letter to offer our congratulations on the wonderful news of Rio de Janeiro’s selection as site of the 2016 Summer Olympics!

We are proud of you and happy for ALL of us who devote their professional career to promoting tourism to Rio de Janeiro and Brazil in general. Of course, special recognition must go to President Lula, President of COB Carlos Arthur Nuzman, Governor Sérgio Cabral, Mayor Eduardo Paes, the RCVB and its Director Paulo Senise, Riotur and Gloria Britto and our good friends at Embratur, Jeanine, Walter and Jose Luiz; your efforts were especially noteworthy of recognition. See a copy of our press release distributed this week here (and picked up in various travel media) prepared by our new Public Relations Company spreading the good news!
In the last week much has been said about what this means for Rio (And all Brazil) in terms of international prestige, economic development and of course tourism growth.
There is little more to be said on these notes (see the most recent – and perhaps most analytical – article to appear on the subject of tourism and hotel growth in the city: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601206&sid=ap998uovriks).
I also urge everyone to see Rios Master Plan for the Games here below so you can better envision where the games will take place and how most of the building will be in the Barra area. They are proposing a new train that will connect the other beaches with Barra for teh events and beyond.
So suffice it to say this:
Now is the time for all of us to work together as never before to capitalize on this “perfect storm” of good news for Brazil Tourism: The World Cup, The Summer Olympics and Brazil’s overall spectacular performance as a leading power and country on the world stage.
BTOA is 100% dedicated to this mission, and indeed it was exactly for opportunities like those before us for which the organization has been building and preparing.
Within some weeks BTOA will be preparing a proposal for your consideration on how we can work together to promote the Cidade Maravilhosa as never before. We look forward to engaging and powerful promotions that will create an excitement about and demand for Rio as never before seen in the US market.
Best wishes to all on behalf of the Brazil Tour Operators Association Members."
Sincerely,
Adam Carter
